Nightstand

Nightstands, sometimes referred to as bedside tables or night tables, are small cabinets or tables that are designed to be placed by the side of the bed. The top of a bedside table is often used for essentials such as an alarm clock, a beverage, glasses or a lamp. Most night stands have extra storage in the form of a cabinet of drawers, perfect for storing medication and reading material!

Height is one of the most important factors that you will need to take into consideration when purchasing a night stand. Night stands are supposed to be convenient, so everything you could want is in an arm’s reach of the bed. Before you go night stand shopping make a note of how tall your bed is, especially is it is extra high or low. Try and pick a bedside table that is as close to the height of your bed as possible.

You should also think about how big you need the night stand to be. This is determined by what you plan using the bedside table for and how much space there is. If you have a large alarm clock or would like photographs and flowers to sit on top of the nightstand, you will need wide nightstand to accommodate these items. On the other hand if you are restricted for space a narrow night stand or even a small floating table.

If you are purchasing night stands for a double bed, you can often find purchase them in matching pairs which allows for a more coordinated look. If you do not want the same night stands you can always opt for different variations in the same finish.

You will also need to think about how much storage you need your night stand to provide you with. Will you need more than one draw or will just a table top be enough?
